George Browse

George Augustus Browse MC was a British Company Sergeant Major in World War I. He was the model for the war memorial erected in Elgin, Scotland.
==Military service==
During the First World War Browse served as the Company Sergeant Major of the 6th Battalion Seaforth Highlanders, part of the 51st (Highland) Division, where he was awarded during the Battle of Arras the Military Cross for "conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty."〔 His citation included this description of his cited action:
